SOS is proud to be hosting the first Zumba Community Event Series at Soquel High School on October 10th, from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm.

Well we feel good about the article that came out in the Sentinel today. http://www.santacruzsentinel.com/ci_12358739 I feel that J.M. and Ryan did a good job of keeping integrity while still sending the message of urgency for the community to get involved. We are down to just 17 days until event day and we need registration to soar at this point. We are keeping our eyes on the goal and pushing onward. We have been invited to meet with the Superintendent and Board of Trustees on Friday to get some answers to help clarify our story and what is to come. Report to follow.

We are feeling the pressure with only 23 days left before our big day but things are rolling right along. We have seen some good support from the community where people are trying to give something to help. I had a conversation and had a reality check when we realised that with a population of 6000 students participating, if each could raise just $100 we could exceed our current goal. That made me feel a lot more positive as I think some of the kids will exceed the $100 which will make up for the ones that won't participate. We currently have $5000 promised in donations of cash and more in-kind donations. It's a good start but we have a long way to go. www.soquelhighfund.org to donate online. Tell a friend

The Beginning Of Something Big

Through the whole month of March we have been waiting to see what the budget cuts would reveal. We have grown accustomed to the teacher wish lists posted on our school websites. Teachers in need of paper or pencils, dry erase markers or boxes of kleenex; but this is beyond our wildest imaginations when we finally got the word, "We are unable to include athletics in our school funding."

Some people might think these are door closing words, but not the mom's of students at various local high schools and middle schools. And hence the SOS Fun Run was born.
